Background Art

It occurs to one, that there should be a few comments addressed to the art which appears in the background of the title photo. The paintings are by Quin Withey. The two most visible are a self-portrait of the artist himself, the other painting with the large blue head is a portrait of the guitarist, Leadbelly aka Huddy Ledbetter, one of the foremost, possibly the most, most, Blues guitarists. (see his rendition of Gallis Pole, it sounds as if at least two, possibly three guitarists are playing simultaneously). Leadbelly was discovered by John Lomax in the first half of the 2oth century and taken all over the country to perform for New Yorkers and such, to show them that such playing actually existed and how it was done. He also composed the well-known song, "Goodnight Irene."

On another note, pretty much all of the photography which may be posted here, or in Flickr or elsewhere is by Elizabeth Withey, aka Beth Withey.

It's a beautiful, humid, hot day here in the Commancheria. The squirrels are particularly frisky today.

Enough for now.
